gaster anteriorly surrounded completely by petiole, with junction clearly visible from above and no part of junction covered by the 1st gastral tergite (extremely rarely that of the 1st gastral sternite) (figs 1-3). Males nearly always with RSS on A3. A clearly defined split between laterosternite and ventral sternite present on S2, and frequently following sternites. Antennal formula nearly always 15-14 (females-males).
Petiole-gaster junction with at least some portion covered by extensions of the large tergite, usually completely covered. Males with RSS primarily on A4. A clearly defined split between laterosternite and ventral sternite never present on S2 or following sternites, at most delimited by the transition from setose to glabrous area (as in Diapriinae: Psilini) Antennal formula never 15-14, always fewer than 15 antennomeres in both sexes.
